Steelers Montravius Adams

The Steelers called up Montravius Adams from the Saints practice squad the week before the Ravens game, and he went from barely playing to contributing on 46 percent of the teams’ defensive snaps. This was out of necessity, granted, but Adams stepped up and played extremely well. Both as a run defender and pass rusher, Adams was a solid force on the field.

As this defensive line gets healthier, expect the team to put Adams on the backburner some. He won’t be seeing nearly 50 percent of the defensive snaps week in and week out. That said, with names like Isaiah Buggs and Henry Mondeaux serving as lackluster options along the defensive line rotation, Adams should have jumped both at this point.

While Chris Wormley and Carlos Davis should be getting the starting reps at defensive end and nose tackle respectively, Adams should be one of the first names off the bench. While Isaiahh Loudermilk is seeing a healthy number of snaps at defensive end, Adams is the more versatile player. He should continue to be a name in rotation on this line moving forward, as his play with the team was impressive.

The Steelers have a plethora of young players that have stepped up recently. While not all of these names are stars, each has flashed the ability to be a solid contributor to the team. At this point though, each of these four young options should be seeing more playing time for this team.
