Conclusion

It is true that the Steelers don’t have a lot of huge pending free agents. The biggest name that will cost the most money will be JuJu Smith-Schuster. A lot of these other players are role players but we have seen from great Belichick teams how role players are key to winning a Super Bowl.

JuJu Smith-Schuster should come cheaper as a guy coming off ACL surgery. In my following of the NFL. Many young and great athletes have no problem coming off ACL tears. It is still one of the most difficult injuries for a player to come back from.

A guy like Dwayne Haskins may not even make the roster out of camp next year, but I still hold onto him and hope that he can regain the first-round billing he was inscribed for. I think the quarterback position is still an unknown for the future and has been for a number of years now. Mason Rudolph was thought of as that answer but it looks more like he is a career backup now.

Special teams players matter and not just anybody can play special teams. Players have to prove in a stadium that they have the “want to” make plays on special teams. A player like Ray-Ray McCloud has shown enough on special teams to want to keep him around and be the return guy. A guy like Marcus Allen can also help you on the special teams side of the ball.

The good news is the Steelers will have some salary cap space to do some things in free agency. I suggest they keep a few guys and maybe invest in the quarterback position (Aaron Rodgers Please!) and get some experience on the offensive line.
