Can the Steelers offense have a new game plan?

Much has been said about the struggles that this Steelers offense has had in recent weeks. The group has failed to do much unless they are in a hurry-up, no-huddle setting, and almost every aspect of this offense has been stale otherwise. Matchups don’t even seem to matter anymore, as weak secondaries or bad run defenses have had the same amount of success against this teams’ struggling offense.

With these final four games coming up, the Steelers have to find a way to scheme up a better offense. Starting with the rushing unit, this team invested a first-round pick in a running back and have gotten what? A few good games but nothing special. Adding some more two-tight end sets and even the occasional fullback lead blocker. At the very least, the team needs to mix it up from rushing out of 11-personal.

The passing offense is a different beast. While Ben Roethlisberger has shown more of an affinity to throw it deep, his accuracy there is still not a strength. That said, mixing in more deep shots at least keeps the defense guessing. At this point though, trotting out the same mediocre and predicable offense each week will yield the same results. The game plan has to change if this team wants any short of winning this game.
