Scenario 3

In this scenario, the Steelers have beaten the Chiefs and the Browns but lose to Baltimore on Week 18. Steeler fans do not want this scenario in any capacity. If the Steelers lose to the Ravens in the final week of the season, then if they wish to have a playoff spot, that means they need a lot of help from other teams in the NFL.

First, the Bengals would have to Beat the Ravens in week 16. Secondly, the Ravens would have to lose to the Rams in Week 17.

Wait, there is more. In this scenario, the Denver Broncos’ games then come into play in determining the playoff race.  If the Steelers lose to the Ravens week, 18, the Denver Broncos need to lose at least one of their remaining three games. If the Broncos win the last three games of the season in this scenario, it drops the raves to a 7th seed and knocks the Steelers out of the playoffs altogether.

So Steelers fans do want to root for the Raiders, Chargers, or Chiefs in the last three weeks of the season, that’s who the Broncos play in succession. But hold your horses; there is more. The Bills or the Raiders game in Week 17 comes into play for this scenario to play out. If the Bills beat the Falcons, the Raiders need to beat Colts. However, a Falcons win renders the Raiders game moot.

In addition, the Colts games have an impact under this scenario. The Colts would have to lose at least two of their last three, Essentially if the Colts and Bills and or Broncos win their last three, that would knock the Steelers out under this scenario.

Due to the potential number of outcomes, its possible some scenarios were missed. Suffice to say, beating the Chiefs, Browns, and losing to the Ravens leads to a messier situation. So should this scenario occur, losses by the Colts, Broncos, and Bills in the last three weeks are good.
