Hill shows the Steelers why speed kills

I’ve had this lone matchup circled on my calendar since the start of the season. The Steelers secondary has shown that while they do have some solid coverage players, they lack the elite speed of a common defense. Multiple times throughout the season they have allowed the deep pass due to their corners lacking the necessary speed to keep up with the opposing receiver.

This week they go up against the fastest receiver in the league in Hill. He can blaze past any defensive back and anytime he touches the ball he threatens to take it the distance. The Steelers have been burned in the past by receivers. Hill could be game-changing though. If the team doesn’t have a sound game plan to counter his speed, it will be a disaster of a day on defense.

Essentially, the Steelers need to do their best to bracket Hill by putting a corner on him, likely Cameron Sutton, and bracketing him with Minkah Fitzpatrick. This will likely limit what Fitzpatrick does from an individual standpoint, but he needs to prevent the big play from happening. Hill has the potential to hurt this defense in a variety of ways and needs to be properly planned for.
