1.  Steelers need a Quarterback

It shouldn’t surprise you that quarterback is going to be the number one need according to numerous analysts this offseason. Not only are the Steelers entering a scary situation at QB in 2022, but it’s also clearly the most important position in football and it’s almost impossible to be competitive without a good one in today’s NFL.

Adam Schefter reported a while back that Ben Roethlisberger is planning for this to be his final season in Pittsburgh, and with the results, the last two seasons have yielded, the front office might finally be ready to move on as well.

Sadly, the options on the roster are really lacking, and Mason Rudolph is the only QB under contract for the Steelers next season. Rudolph has been given ample time to show that he’s not a long-term fix. While Pittsburgh may look to fill the void in free agency or via trade, they could still look for a franchise option at the position to develop.

The 2022 NFL Draft class doesn’t have any elite quarterback prospects; rather several guys with traits and upside who should be taken in the middle of the first round. Don’t be surprised if you see Kevin Colbert spending a lot of time around QB prospects leading up to the NFL Draft.

The Steelers have no shortage of needs and too little draft capital to fill them all. Between free agency and the NFL Draft, we hope they can find some future stars and start to string together a quality roster that will help them be very competitive in the future.
