With the new year upon us, here are five AFC North players the Steelers should be targeting in the new year.

The AFC North has become one of the toughest divisions in the NFL, as each of the four teams is contending for the playoffs. Each of the three rosters are immensely talented, and with the Steelers set to rebuild, poaching some familiar players would be well worth it.

Here are five AFC North players the Steelers need to add in 2022.

Steelers should add Harrison

Terrell Edmunds’s tenure with the Steelers will likely end after this season, and the team will need to find a new strong safety to play next to Minkah Fitzpatrick. With the draft being relatively void of top-end safety talent, the team should look to add a free agent instead. Looking at the options in the AFC North, Ronnie Harrison would make the most sense.

The former Jaguar and Browns safety has the size and hard-hitting ability that the team covets in a strong safety. His 2021 play hasn’t been great, but he has displayed the ability to be a good starting option in this league. While his coverage numbers haven’t been great, he has seen his run-stopping efficiency and missed tackle rate improve.

Considering his size and previous success in coverage, Harrison would be a natural fit to cover tight ends as well. His versatility should be appealing for a Steelers team that hasn’t had a dynamic player at strong safety for years. Harrison won’t be that, but he could be a short-term fill at a position of need in 2022.
