Houston Texans
You’d be hard-pressed to find a team in the NFL with a worse quarterback situation than the Houston Texans. Not only are they lacking a decent developmental option for the future, but they also recently benched their veteran after a rough stretch of games.
Tyrod Taylor now sits as the backup to rookie Davis Mills. Taylor was once a Pro Bowl player for the Buffalo Bills all the way back in 2015, but the 32-year-old quarterback was benched in Houston’s 31-0 blowout loss to the Colts after completing just 5 of 13 passes.
Clearly, the Texans are much more than a quarterback away from rebuilding this team, but until they find one, this is a team that could use a player like Ben Roethlisberger as a bridge. Ben, of course, would have to be willing to play for a team without much talent and one that could prove to leave a dent on his career win percentage.
Still, with slim pickings and a dreadful quarterback situation, the Texans could have some level of interest in bringing in a bridge QB like Roethlisberger — even if it’s simply to help sell tickets.
