Steelers must improve at Offensive Line

A position everyone should have circled for offseason improvement has to be the offensive line. The team could realistically target a starter at tackle, guard, and even center. While expecting new starters at all five positions along the line is unrealistic, a new starting right guard and right tackle are almost locks for this unit.

Trai Turner and Chukwuma Okorafor have both been ok this season, but neither are likely to return with their contracts expiring. This means two starters will have to be replaced already. While Zach Banner will be under contract for right tackle, the fact that he has failed to get on the field this season isn’t promising. To bank on Banner at this point wouldn’t be wise, and the team will need a new tackle to come in and compete.

While the team will likely roll with Kendrick Green at center for at least next season, it isn’t impossible that they try him at guard and find a new center in 2022. This group has a lot of questions at this point, and there should be quite a few new faces on the squad. The draft will be a popular place naturally to fill these needs, but a key free-agent signing isn’t out of the question either. If the team wants their offense to improve though, they need to bolster their line in 2022.
