Steelers must fix the OL

It’s no secret that the new Steelers’ offensive line is terrible. They show little signs of wanting to compete and are inconsistent at best. There are factors to why the offensive line isn’t a good one, Kendrick Green has shown by now he isn’t the answer at the center position and should take over Trai Turner’s spot, he would make a better guard as that is his natural position.

Former offensive line coach Adrian Klemm — who just left for the University of Oregon — talked about installing physicality into practices but fans have been left hung up to dry on that end as there has been very little physicality from this group of QB protectors. The Steelers still need a few starters on the line and this draft class or free-agent class has a lot to offer.

Some players who should be available when the Steelers pick are Tyler Linderbaum and Kenyon Green. Linderbaum, if the coaches draft him with this idea, would line up at the center position and slide over Kendrick Green to the right guard position, having both at their natural position and making the interior of the line much stronger.

Another option is keeping Green at the center position and drafting Texas A&M guard Kenyon Green to play the guard position. Allowing Kendrick to develop more at the position and addressing an offensive line position would make at least some fans happy and show that the team is committed to fixing the issue but wants Kendrick to play center.

The free agency class won’t be cheap, so hopefully, the Steelers use some big-time money on a lineman or two instead of continuing the pattern of not spending much during the offseason.
