Los Angeles Chargers

The Chargers were just seconds away from a playoff berth this season after nearly tying the Raiders in overtime in Week 18. While Los Angeles has some pretty capable receivers already in Keenan Allen and Mike Williams, they also have the second-most cap space in the NFL entering the 2022 offseason.

With roughly $69 million in spending money, the Chargers will be looking to bring in some quality players. The only issue is that it’s not a terrific free-agent class. Though this team could use more help on the defensive side of the ball (and will probably spend big here in free agency), adding another talented and reliable receiver who can play both on the outside and in the slot could be huge for the continuing development of QB Justin Herbert.

JuJu Smith-Schuster and Keenan Allen do a lot of similar things for their teams, but you can never have too many high-quality receiving options. As Herbert continues to improve, Brandon Staley can make sure that he has every opportunity to reach his full potential by getting him another weapon.

With all of their cap space and one of the best young quarterbacks in the NFL, the Chargers might just be a year or two away from competing for a championship. They’ve got a ton of spending money this offseason, and bringing in a player like JuJu makes sense.
