Steelers let Kelce be the trade-off

One element of the Chiefs offense that the Steelers didn’t have to prepare for was tight end Travis Kelce, as he was stuck on their covid list before their matchup. The same won’t be the case this week, as Kelce is healthy and ready to terrorize the team’s linebackers in coverage. Considering this defense failed to stop this offense a few weeks ago without Kelce, one can only imagine what the impact will be of bringing him back.

All of that said, I think the team keeps their defensive plan similar to before. The focus was on stopping Tyreek Hill and considering his ability to flip a game on any play, they should continue to try and limit him. That means the other receivers and Kelce will have more opportunities, but it is a risk you have to take in order to avoid the big plays that Hill provides.

I think Kelce floats around the 100-yard receiving mark and is overall the Chiefs’ biggest threat to the air. His big day is countered by another mediocre game from Hill, as the Steelers focus their secondary on limiting him and his big play ability. Kelce is an animal in his own right, but the focus needs to still be on stopping Hill from impacting the game as only he can do.
