2. Bailey Zappe, Western Kentucky

If the Steelers were to wait until the third or fourth rounds of the NFL to take a quarterback, Zappe could end up being a Dak Prescott-type player that comes out of this class.

The electric quarterback threw for nearly 6,000 yards and 62 touchdowns in 2021. Zappe’s senior season was his only season as the starter at Western Kentucky, but he certainly made the most of it, as his astronomical numbers helped him shoot up draft boards. At 6-foot-1, he isn’t the biggest quarterback in this class, but his pros outweigh his cons. He is very smart and aware in the pocket and is a respectable athlete with solid mobility.

There are some questions about his consistency making the downfield throw, but every one of these quarterbacks has their warts. Zappe is a smart quarterback who possesses good awareness and decision-making. He can make the throws necessary to play on Sundays, and he runs a very respectable 4.7-second 40-yard dash.

Zappe has shown great accuracy and solid footwork and could be a mid-round guy that turns into a starter before long. In the right situation, he can succeed as a long-term starter.
