The Pittsburgh Steelers brass is on hand at the 2022 Reese’s Senior Bowl. Here are three quarterbacks they have already met with so far.

As soon as the 2022 Senior Bowl week kicked off, it was no surprise to see the Steelers brass salivating over the chance to talk to the top quarterback prospects this year. With Ben Roethlisberger now officially retired, Pittsburgh has some massive shoes to fill as they prepare to look for their next franchise passer.

The 2022 NFL Draft class isn’t particularly strong at the top — especially when it comes to the quarterback position. However, it is quite deep, and there could be as many as four quarterbacks who are selected on the first day of the draft. The Steelers will no doubt see some of these quarterbacks again a few more times prior to April, but here are the three quarterbacks their brass has already met with at the Senior Bowl:

Steelers have met with Malik Willis

After the first day of Senior Bowl practice, Pittsburgh’s top dogs met with Malik Willis and his parents in a conversation that lasted roughly ten minutes. (Here’s a picture from Mark Kaboly of The Athletic that shows Mike Tomlin, Kevin Colbert, and Matt Canada gathered around the Liberty quarterback).

Some claim that Willis was the most impressive of the group of quarterbacks at the Senior Bowl early on, as he showed his elite and natural arm talent as well as the ability to use his legs in a jam. The problem with Willis has always been consistency and decision-making, as he had two games of 3 interceptions this past season against inferior competition.

The Steelers are clearly doing their homework on this kid, and they want to see if he’s a viable option with the 20th overall pick this April. For as much interest as they have shown so far at the Senior Bowl, I’d be surprised if their brass doesn’t make the trip to visit with him on his Pro Day.
