3. Steelers should consider LB Chad Muma

I don’t know how likely it is that the Steelers draft a player like Chad Muma. Coming from Wyoming, he’s quite a ways outside of their typical scouting region. Still, if he’s available in the second round of the 2022 NFL Draft, this would be a player who would be very hard to pass up.

Muma has excellent size at the linebacker position, as he measured in at over 6’2” and 241 pounds. In addition to this, he’s got great speed and is a very smooth athlete at the linebacker position. Muma put up some eye-popping statistics over the past few years. As a prospect, he’s on par with former teammate, Logan Wilson (who is already having a great start to his career in the NFL).

The Steelers have a lot of needs on both sides of the ball, but it’s interesting to note that they have personally met with several off-ball linebackers early in Senior Bowl week, and I wouldn’t be surprised if they took one as early as the second round.

Muma has been one of the standout players at the Senior Bowl and he has a great overall skill set. Pittsburgh is likely cutting Joe Schobert this offseason, and they could use another starting-caliber plug-and-play linebacker on their defense. He should be on their radar in April.
