With the Steelers preparing their offseason roster, these five players need to take major steps and develop before the 2022 season begins.

The Steelers season ended on a sour note despite actually making the playoffs, and with so much turnover on the team, the 2022 season will be a unique one. While the team will be focused on filling the roster holes and bringing in some new talent, the players will be focused on developing their games to become better contributors.

Every player should be focused on developing, but some need more than others. Here are the five Steelers that need to grow during the 2022 offseason.

Steelers Dan Moore

One of the bigger surprises of the 2021 draft class, Dan Moore filled in instantly at left tackle and never relinquished the job. The fourth-round pick was expected to take a red-shirt rookie season before injuries and an impressive camp forced him into the starting role. He had his expected troubles, as his technique and functional strength made him a liability early in the season.

As the season progressed though, so did Moore. Unlike fellow rookie Kendrick Green, Moore actually played better the more that he saw the field. He ended the season playing in the average to the above-average range. Despite those developments though, he still needs to be focused on growing in the offseason.

If Moore can add some more strength and get his feet better aligned, there is a real chance that he is the Steelers starting left tackle for the foreseeable future. He wasn’t perfect as a rookie by any means, but he did more than enough to flash legitimate starting potential moving forward. He will need the offseason to work on some things, but if he can grow where he needs to the future should be bright for Moore.
