The Pittsburgh Steelers are in full offseason mode, but these four teams could foil their plans in the 2022 NFL Draft.

As the draft nears, there seems to be no clear consensus on whom the Steelers should draft. The Steelers have many needs to fill including quarterback, offensive line, cornerback, safety, and wide receiver. There is also plenty of debate amongst fans whether the Steelers take a quarterback or concentrate on snagging one of the offensive linemen available.

The hundreds of mock drafts out there have not seemed to help clear the matter up any. Mock drafts have the Steelers land anyone from Carson Strong, Kenney Pickett, Charles Cross, and Tyler Linderbaum. One even had the Steelers selecting Zion Johnson, who is not even close to a first-day selection.

Once the colleges have their pro days and the NFL holds its scouting combine, the Steelers will begin to tip their hand as to who they are interested in selecting. However, barring a trade-up as they did to draft Devin Bush, the Steelers’ future and whom they take with their number one selection will largely be influenced by four draft choices ahead of theirs.

These four selections could alter the Steelers’ future. If they go, quarterback, it could mean Kenny Pickett or Carson Strong. If they go offensive lineman, it could mean Charles Cross or Kenyon Green. Certain teams ahead of Pittsburgh have similar needs to the Steelers, so they could and probably will be scouting many of the same players the Steelers’ coaching staff will be evaluating.

So let’s look at how which teams can impact the Steelers draft in 2022.
