While the Steelers will be looking for their next franchise quarterback next season, these four options should all be avoided by the team.

The Steelers are just starting their hunt for their next great franchise quarterback, and while a new name will almost certainly be added to this group, there are some that just don’t make sense.

No matter if they would need to sign them, trade for them, or draft them, these four quarterbacks the least amount of sense for the team. They shouldn’t be pursued or added by the Steelers this offseason.

Steelers should avoid Bridgewater

Teddy Bridgewater is the definition of a safe quarterback. He isn’t going to win you many games on his own, but he is a smart and efficient player that can lead an offense when all things are going well.

Just look at the Broncos from earlier in the season. They were off to a hot start before they faltered down the stretch. Bridgewater was a fine quarterback during that time, but again, he wasn’t winning the team’s games on his own.

While his contract will be sizable but not elite (I would guess in the 20-25 million range), the issue with him comes with his injuries. Bridgewater has had quite a few notable injuries over the years. Behind a sturdy offensive line, this shouldn’t be a huge deal. That said, the Steelers line is a mess still. Bridgewater would be running for his life and a few bad hits would lead to him exiting. He would be a fine transitional quarterback, but the way this offense is built right now, he would be a bad choice for the team.
