Steelers should target Bulaga

The Steelers have obvious holes along their offensive line, and things will only get murkier this offseason. While Zach Banner is still under contract, there is little guarantee that he makes the team due to his limited play. That could leave right tackle wide open, and while there are risks associated with his name, Bryan Bulaga could be a great addition to the team.

Bulaga was a top tackle with the Packers before joining the Chargers two seasons ago. Unfortunately, he has only played in 11 games over those two seasons due to injury and he now seems like a likely cap casualty. If he were released, he is a name the team has to consider. While his age and injury history aren’t great, his play when on the field is. He could help transition this line to their next successful era.

It would ultimately be up to cost here, as the team shouldn’t invest that much in an older and now injury-prone tackle. If he were to take a short deal for a reasonable price though to rebuild his value, the Steelers have to be interested. Bulaga was seen as one of the league’s best right tackles just a few seasons ago. He can reclaim that title if he were to stay healthy this season. That would be a huge improvement for the Steelers.
