6 potential cap casualties the Steelers must sign in 2022

Steelers should target Hicks
The Steelers likely will need to blow up their off-ball linebacker position this offseason. Devin Bush was a liability this season and Joe Schobert likely finds himself as a cap casualty. While the draft is filled with a bigger, old-school linebacker that can blitz and stop the run, the team would still want its coverage linebacker.
Insert Jordan Hicks. The former Eagle and likely former Cardinal has been a steady defender since entering the league. That said, his time with the Cardinals is likely done. He was on the trade block last season and seems to be a likely cut once the offseason gets underway. This isn’t due to his play, which has been fine, but it is instead due to Isaiah Simmons and Zaven Collins being the team’s starters next season.
If the Cardinals move on from the veteran, he is a must-add for the Steelers. While he will be 30 next season, he is still effective in coverage, on run downs, and even blitzing. The team needs better play from their linebackers, and Hicks would be a good start. If the Cardinals release the veteran, Pittsburgh would be wise to try and bring him in.
