Steelers can target Williams

Darious Williams is a really intriguing name as he is set to enter free agency. The former undrafted rookie has the prototypical size of a slot cornerback but plays almost exclusively on the outside for the Rams. Considering he is playing across from Jalen Ramsey, he is battle-tested as an above-average cornerback in the league as he sees a lot of passes come his way.

While the size and pedigree are far from what the Steelers have wanted in their corners, Williams is a hard player to root against. He has overcome the odds to be a quality starter in this league. While his overall play took a minor step back this season, the regression isn’t anything major. He would be a quality addition to a defensive back room currently set to change significantly.

Signing him would be reminiscent of signing Steven Nelson a few seasons ago. While not a top name in coverage, the consistent targets make them battle-tested. That gives them the ability to start every week and play at an above-average level. Williams would be an intriguing fit to say the est. He plays with a chip on his shoulder and would be a quality starter for this team.
