3 lessons Steelers can learn from the Super Bowl champion Rams

Trading for a quarterback can work
I’m not going to pretend that Matthew Stafford was perfect in the Super Bowl or the playoff games leading up to it. However, there’s no question that he made more ‘big time’ throws than former Rams quarterback, Jared Goff.
Even though Los Angeles gave Goff a massive contract extension a few years back, kudos to the front office for recognizing that he wasn’t the man for the job and that they needed an improvement to get this team over the hump and win the Super Bowl.
Trading for a good veteran quarterback is a move the Rams certainly don’t regret making. Though it cost them significant draft capital and they ate a ton of dead money from Goff’s deal, their aggressiveness paid off, and Stafford did enough to bring LA another Lombardi Trophy.
The Steelers should keep all options on the table at quarterback, and that includes trading for an established starter. Though this would take up much of their cap space and require elite draft capital, the difference in quarterbacks could mean being Super Bowl contenders or missing the playoffs entirely. The Rams showed us first-hand that trading for a QB can work.
