Steelers mock draft round 4 (comp): IOL Cole Strange

The Steelers doubled up on offensive lineman with their third and fourth-round picks in 2021, and I can see a scenario where they do the same in 2022. Outside of Dan Moore and Kevin Dotson, Pittsburgh might not have another offensive lineman who the team could build around (especially if Kendrick Green doesn’t improve fast).

Even if the Steelers believe they have three young players who can start for this team, there’s no question they are going to have at least two more holes to fill, and Trai Turner and Chukwuma Okorafor are both likely to depart in free agency this offseason.

Cole Strange played most of his reps at center during Senior Bowl week, but he’s a guard by trade. Despite playing for a very small level of competition for Chatanooga, Strange more than held his own against some quality defensive tackles that are projected to be high picks this year.

On film, Strange is a man among boys as he showcases quick feet and the power to anchor and drive defenders back. He’s got a frame that can carry more weight without sacrificing athleticism. If he makes it this far, he would have a chance to be one of the steals of the draft. He might be able to start right away at guard for the Steelers (or center, if the team still isn’t pleased with Green by the end of their 2022 training camp).
