UPMC

If Heinz is taking their name off the stadium, then the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center could be the most logical choice. UPMC has had a long relationship with the Steelers and the Pittsburgh Penguins. They are the official health care providers for both clubs and have provided medical care and rehabilitation for players for years.

In conjunction, UPMC in 2015 signed a 15-year renewal deal to put their name on the UPMC Rooney Sports Complex. It is also one of the leading sports medicine centers in the nation. So if anyone might bone up the bucks to put their name on the stadium, it could very well be UPMC.

Highmark Blue Cross Blue Shield

Highmark is one of the leading health insurances in Pennsylvania. Also, if you have ever listened to the Steelers radio broadcasts of the games, you have undoubtedly heard one of their ads. They are perhaps one of the largest advertisers on Steelers radio broadcasts.

While it’s not entirely clear how much of a contender they are in the naming rights, if UPMC does not put their name on the stadium, you could easily see Highmark’s name go up.

The only potential drawback to any deal is that Buffalo plays in Highmark Stadium, named after Highmark Blue Cross Blue Shield of Western New York. Assuming the Steelers would want to keep the name on their stadium original, they could opt for another name.
