Steelers must consider DT Travis Jones

Travis Jones followed up an excellent Senior Bowl week with an impressive performance at the 2022 NFL Combine. While it was Georgia’s Jordan Davis who stole the show, Jones really raised eyebrows with his 4.92 40-yard dash.

At 6’4” and 325 pounds, you don’t see this very often. Jones also looked remarkable in his movement drills — showing talent evaluators that he can be more than just a run stuffer at the next level. In addition, his 34 1/4” arms should help him control the man in front of him at the point of attack.

Jones has some absurd strength and carries his weight incredibly well for a big defensive tackle. Whether the Steelers bring Stephon Tuitt back or not, Jones is a player who should be in strong consideration if he’s somehow still on the board in the second round.

This was one of the more talented groups we have seen at the NFL Combine in years, but the Pittsburgh Steelers really need to consider these four players when you consider their strong tape and how impressive they were at the Combine.
