4 Steelers who don’t deserve another season in 2022
By Tommy Jaggi

LB Robert Spillane
Robert Spillane was a fun story while it lasted. The former undrafted free agent bounced around practice squads before landing with the Steelers and he turned some heads when he finally got the chance to see an NFL field on defense when Devin Bush went down in 2020.
However, outside of a few really nice plays like the pick-six and the goal-line stop against Derrick Henry, Spillane has been not only completely unspectacular but also a liability. With roughly 4.8 speed, Spillane is routinely dusted in coverage and he doesn’t have the makeup speed to track down the ball carrier after the catch.
As a special teamer, Spillane is solid. But much like former Steelers linebacker, Tyler Matekevich, this is where he should stay. Still, I think Spillane has served his time with this team, and I really don’t want any chance of him seeing the field on defense again. This experiment should be over with.

The Steelers have other players who won’t be returning in 2022, but these four clearly don’t deserve another chance in Pittsburgh next season. It’s time to move on from them.
