Steelers will attend Liberty Pro Day on March 22nd

This is going to be a break from the norm. The Steelers love themselves a good Virginia Tech Pro Day, and we know Mike Tomlin has great connections with this school. However, it’s hard to justify making the trip this year when Liberty QB Malik Willis will be performing on the same day.

At this point, most draft analysts (including myself) are predicting that Willis is going to be selected before pick 20. After the Seahawks traded away Russell Wilson to the Denver Broncos, I feel like Seattle at pick 9 just makes way too much sense.

Willis has some remarkable tools but is also incredibly raw. Still, most of the quarterbacks with elite tools have been worth the gamble in recent years, and there will be several NFL teams interested in taking Willis before Pittsburgh is on the clock.

A trade-up for Willis might be required in order to land him this year. Still, I think Pittsburgh’s brass is willing to leave conflicting teams like Virginia Tech, Mississippi State, and Texas A&M in the rearview mirror to help decide whether or not Willis is worth trading into the top-10 for this year.
