Terrell Edmunds Re-Signs with the Steelers
Terrell Edmunds is currently in the free-agent market. However, there has been no news of negotiations with anyone. So as of yet, no other teams have come knocking on his door. That does not mean no one else could offer a contract; the odds start dropping that someone will. Look at Alejandro Villanueva; he eventually did get signed by the Ravens, but it happened closer to start training camp and because at that point, the Ravens could get him for a lot less than Villanueva would have liked.
If anything, Edmunds has been a solid safety over his career with the Steelers. However, that may be, in part, his downside. Sure he’s been solid; however, as opposed to, let’s say, Minkah Fitzpatrick, he has never managed to stand out much in the backfield either.
He has five interceptions over his four seasons in Pittsburgh but none for touchdowns. With that, he has one sack. Ok, safties are not supposed to have a lot of sacks, but then Troy Polamalu, over his first four seasons, had seven sacks. Then he has had one fumble recovery and 235 solo tackles.
He is a solid complimentary defensive back. Yet the issue is in those four years, he has never made all-pro, nor the pro bowl. You can’t distinguish him from the scenery. The longer he stays unsigned, the greater chance he returns to the Steelers.
