Cons of Matt Canada’s offense

Knowing Trubisky’s limitations and the question of why his stock rose this year led to a scathing critique of Matt Canada on the PM Team with Poni and Mueller, which airs on 93.7 FM The Fan in Pittsburgh.

"“Now people think with Canada running the show whatever actual steps he [Trubisky] took in Buffalo sitting on the bench and learning people think Matt Canada is the guy to get to the next level with him. What in Matt Canada’s background other than blind faith that Roethlisberger was holding his offense back makes people believe that.”"

Despite what you might like about Matt Canada’s offensive scheme, it does not come without its criticisms. When the Steelers promoted Matt Canada to offensive coordinator, everyone had high expectations it would make a huge difference in 2021. When it failed to produce results, then all of the excuses began, with the main one being Roethlisberger was holding his offense back.

Perhaps one could buy that explanation; however, on the Poni and Mueller Show, they brought up another point about Canada. His offense only worked once with great effect. It only worked at Pitt with Nate Peterman. So with all the notions, you seed a super mobile quarterback, the only quarterback, not super agile, and in a college system not predicated on having a speedy quarterback.

Then there is a slightly more compelling reason to suspect the Trubisky experiment could go horribly wrong. Case in point, Mason Rudolph.
