4 players that should be dropping down Steelers draft board
By Andrew Falce
With the combine finished up, the Steelers would be wise to move these combine disappointments down their draft boards.
The Steelers are a relatively easy team to figure out draft-wise. They show a plethora of interest in their top picks and prefer All-Star game participants and athletes after that. There is little reason to believe that this will be any different in 2022.
That said, there were quite a few players that hurt themselves at the combine. In particular, these four options need to be moved down the Steelers draft board after their combine performances.
Steelers should drop Burks
Treylon Burks was a name I was aware of before the combine, but my interest peaked after finally watching a few games of his. His on-the-field presence was imposing and his usage is similar to Deebo Samual, making him a sleeper option for the Steelers in the first. Add in the rumors that he was going to run in the 4.3s and it seemed like Burks could be quite the weapon for any offense that added him.
While I do still expect Burks to be a good receiver, his testing points to him being more of an average athlete. That’s what I personally believe separates him from the top names in the league. He can still be an effective receiver, but he isn’t going to be this impactful hybrid player like many thought he could be. A good receiver would be welcomed in this offense, but frankly, there are better names to be targeting right now
