The Steelers have been making a lot of free agency signings and these players should be worried.

The Steelers went into this free agency process with a bunch of cap space to spend with. They decided to grow that space with perfectly structured contracts that could be dumped off if these signings don’t work out. They also released some contracts that didn’t make sense for the team to move forward with like Joe Schobert and Zach Banner.

Those moves helped influence the potential for other additions that will affect many on the current roster. There are only so many spots available for employment on an NFL team and Pittsburgh is no different. Some will lose starting spots while others may lose their jobs sooner or later.

All of these holes are starting to fill up for the black and gold already and there is still a lot of time before the season begins. The draft is still about a month away and that will only add to this team’s competition going forward. This franchise could have some solid depth when it is all said and done.

Honorable mentions

Cam Sutton

Cam Sutton is not in trouble for being cut from the team, but the free agency signings have hampered him some. He will not become a starting outside corner like man thought he would after the Levi Wallace deal. He will kick back into the nickel role as Ahkello Witherspoon was just announced to be coming back on a new contract.

Dwayne Haskins

Dwayne Haskins jumped onto the scene during last year’s pre-season schedule. Many liked him so much that they demanded him to become the second-string option behind Ben Roethlisberger. That train has slowed down a lot and now this player will have to battle to be the backup, even though he is almost cemented into the third spot. His roster safety could immediately disappear if the black and gold decide to get a quarterback come draft day.
