Steelers won’t draft OT Bernhard Raimann

The next player you can cross off Pittsburgh’s draft radar in the first round entirely is Central Michigan OT Bernhard Raimann. Despite the Steelers love for MAC players, they won’t break the trend of drafting a small school player in the first round.

The last time Colbert did this, it was for quarterback Ben Roethlisberger out of Miami (OH). Some say that rules are made to be broken, but the Steelers hardly live by this motto.

The proof is in the pudding. Pittsburgh had just one personnel member in attendance for Central Michigan’s Pro Day, and that person wasn’t either Mike Tomlin or Kevin Colbert.

This shouldn’t come as a major surprise to anyone, as Colbert has apparently never been fond of drafting offensive tackles early. In fact, he has never taken one in the first round since becoming general manager of the Pittsburgh Steelers, and you would have to go all the way back to Jamain Stephens in 1996 since this team took an OT in the first round.
