Steelers could trade for Jones

Easily the biggest need on the roster as of this writing, the Steelers currently don’t have a strong safety on the roster. Terrell Edmunds may end up coming back or a free agent could be signed, but if the season started today, Miles Killibrew would be the penciled-in starter. That has disaster written all over it.

A name that could potentially be traded for is Brandon Jones of the Dolphins. The first of two of their secondary members that make this list, Jones is a prototypical strong safety with some skills to play in coverage. He isn’t an elite talent, but he was a capable reserve for this defense, rotating in and out with fellow defensive back Eric Rowe. While not a traditional starter, Jones did serve a role on this Dolphins defense.

Because of that, he would likely cost a higher pick than most on this list. While not a traditional starter, Jones is a heavy rotational piece for this team at safety. That said, if the Steelers offered them enough in a trade, it could be worth it for both sides. Jones would fill in comfortably for Edmunds if they could land him from the Dolphins.
