Steelers could trade for Shenault

It has been a tale of two seasons for the former Colorado State star. Laviska Shenault looked like the next big thing at receiver during his rookie campaign. While not a dynamic athlete, Shenault is built in the same mold as a Deebo Samuel. He has the classic running back build but serves as a receiver. He was used effectively in that role in year one, and there were high hopes he would continue that development in year two.

It never really came together though for Shenault, and despite playing slightly more on the offense, his touches, yards, and scores all regressed. By the season’s end, he seemed to have been almost completely phased out of the Jaguars offense, and the offseason hasn’t helped that notion. New receivers Christian Kirk and Zay Jones figure to keep Shenault buried on the depth chart.

If the Jaguars look to move him, the Steelers would be wise to attempt to trade for him. While his career hasn’t developed as most expected it would, he still has a lot of potential in the right system. As well, his size and playing style mimic Smith-Schuster, meaning the team would have an idea how to use him. His compensation likely starts with a day three pick, but his cost shouldn’t be mind-blowing. The Steelers should be interested if he is made available.
