Steelers could trade for Lockett

It was game-changing news when the Seahawks had announced that they traded Russell Wilson and had cut Bobby Wagner. It became clear that this team was in store for a rebuild even if a rookie quarterback is added in this draft. Because of the fact that this team will likely need a season or two to compete, some other veterans may be on the move.

Chief among those may be Tyler Lockett. While the veteran slot receiver has enjoyed unparalleled success in Seattle, the fact is by the time this team is competing again, Lockett will be well past his prime. He could very well be on the move, and as one of the best slot receivers in the league, the Steelers would be wise to make a call.

While a quality receiver, his age and the upcoming receiver group in the draft will likely keep his value to a late day two or early day three pick. The Steelers could easily afford that. In return, they get one of the more stable return men in the league and a player their new quarterback can depend on moving forward. It would be a wise move if it can be made, and one the Steelers shouldn’t hesitate to inquire about.

While there is still time and players available in free agency to fill the remainder of the team’s needs, they could look to trade as well. There are quite a few low and high-tier names that would make a lot of sense for the team to add. These eight, in particular, would be realistic names to target as well as affordable options to fill out this roster.
