Does Colbert want to leave a legacy with the Steelers?

As one argument, you can say, and rightfully so, all of these moves plug holes with a very cheap cost. Which then give gives the Steelers options in the draft. Especially with the 20th selection. They could wait to see who comes off the board.

Depending on how others draft, if the good offensive linemen and quarterbacks are off the board, they can take a wide receiver or a cornerback. However, they can take a lineman if the corners or receivers go early. They are not tied to any one position, unlike they were in the 2021 Draft.

Keep in mind though this is Colbert’s last draft. He has an opportunity to create a legacy with the Steelers before he leaves the franchise. Thus one gets the feeling Colbert has something up his sleeve still.

In 2018 Ozzie Newsome did the same for their AFC Rival Baltimore Ravens in his final draft in which he selected Hayden Hurst, Lamar Jackson, Mark Andrews, and Orlando Brown Jr. all in one draft. Many Baltimore fans may consider that draft his legacy with the Ravens.

Is Colbert looking for his moment in the Sun? Maybe or maybe not. However, that may depend on whom you ask. Lance Zierlein, NFL Media Draft Analyst, suspects Kevin Colbert may use the draft in much the same way Newsome did in 2018. So what could be up Colbert’s sleeve?
