Steelers mock draft round 2: WR George Pickens

Based on my research, I would be floored if the Pittsburgh Steelers selected a wide receiver in the first round of the 2022 NFL Draft. Over the past few weeks, Tomlin and Colbert have skipped out on visiting first-round WR candidates like Garrett Wilson, Jahan Dotson, Chris Olave, and Treylon Burks. However, that doesn’t mean that receiver won’t be an option in round two.

In fact, I would almost go as far as to say that this is the position the Steelers will be targeting in the second round — assuming the right player is still on the board. That guy could very well be George Bulldogs standout, George Pickens.

Pickens is a former five-star recruit coming out of high school who showed some amazing flashes since his freshman season. While he didn’t test as a phenomenal athlete, he has great size and good speed to go with excellent ball skills.

The Georgia product has a very natural feel for the game. Perhaps what is most telling is that Tomlin and Colbert were watching him intently at his Pro Day. Steelers WR coach Frisman Jackson also put Pickens through drills. This is a guy who they will certainly have their eye on if he’s available in the second round.
