The Steelers aren’t going to draft this way in 2022, but we can dream. This would be the perfect haul for Pittsburgh in the NFL Draft.

I know there are a lot of fans who don’t care much for hypotheticals, but I’m going to give one to you anyway. Whenever I construct my Steelers mock drafts, it’s always about trying to predict what Pittsburgh would do — not who I would take.

For this mock, however, I am going to do the opposite. I’m going to give you my favorite dream scenario for Pittsburgh in each round of the 2022 NFL Draft. While some of the players might not be on the board at the time of their selections, here are my favorite players I can only dream about drafting in each round for the Steelers this year:

814. . Defensive tackle. Bulldogs . Jordan Davis. 1. player

Steelers dream mock draft round 1: DT Jordan Davis

Jordan Davis would be one of my absolute favorite picks the Pittsburgh Steelers could possibly make in the first round of the NFL Draft. Sadly, as Mike Tomlin eluded to, Davis is going to be “hugging Goodell” before the Steelers are on the clock… but we can dream.

Anyone who thinks that Davis is just your run-of-the-mill run-stuffing defensive tackle, I would really question how much tape you’ve watched. While his statistical production at Georgia was nothing to write home about, this was largely due to the full DL rotation the Bulldogs used, as their defense was just so deep.

Davis has a blend of size, power, and athletic traits that we only see once in a generation. He’s going to be an absolute force in the middle of an NFL defense for a decade, and he would instantly help transition Pittsburgh’s league-worst run defense into one of the NFL’s best. Davis is a 10+ year starter who will be a cornerstone player on whichever team drafts him for years to come.
