Steelers dream mock draft round 4: WR Alec Pierce

Getting a big, athletic receiver like Alec Pierce might not be possible in the fourth round, but crazier things have happened. We know that the Steelers have a serious need at the wide receiver position, and Pierce would be perhaps the best player available at this point if he was still on the board.

At 6’3 1/8” and 211 pounds, Pierce is a phenomenal athlete — running a 4.41 and recording a 40.5” vertical at the NFL Combine. This deep speed and explosion showed up often on tape as well as Pierce averaged 17.5 yards per reception during his career with the Cincinnati Bearcats.

Pierce isn’t the slot receiver the Steelers need, but he could be a very solid ‘Z’ receiver at the next level. By drafting him, Pittsburgh could shift Chase Claypool inside to the ‘big slot’ role — something that might be better for his career in the long run.

Alec Pierce is a player who could win down the field at the next level with his speed, massive catch radius, and big-play ability. He would be the steal of the fourth round if he lasts this long and would make for a perfect selection in my dream mock draft for Pittsburgh.
