I’m not crazy about any of the quarterback prospects this year, and quite frankly, I think the Steelers should wait until 2023 to continue their QB search. However, I do like Matt Corral more than some.

Corral isn’t an underclassman (like the Steelers typically prefer) and there have been some questions about his maturity and character. These could factor into Pittsburgh’s evaluation. Still, I think Corral is a player who will very much be in consideration if he falls to pick 20 in the NFL Draft.

There’s a lot the Steelers will like about Corral, as he certainly ticks the box when it comes to mobility and arm talent. He’s easily got the fastest release in this class and with a tight spiral and great velocity to cut through wind.

However, Corral has a slight frame (6’1 5/8” and 212 pounds) which could be a turnoff for the Steelers, and he has been banged up often in the past. Tomlin and Colbert have historically tried to ignore players with injury histories. I still think that Corral is a strong first-round option this year, but there are a few others Pittsburgh could like more.
