Steelers could pursue T.Y. Hilton

T.Y. Hilton isn’t quite the same player that he was four years ago. Early in his NFL career, Hilton proved to be one of the best deep threats in the league. He even earned Pro Bowl honors in four straight seasons from 2014 to 2017. However, father time is starting to catch up to him.

This certainly doesn’t mean that Hilton has no place on an NFL roster. Hilton dealt with injuries last season, but in a part-time capacity, he still managed 14.4 yards per reception and an impressive 8.9 yards per target.

Hilton once ran a 4.34 40-yard dash all the way back in 2012 when he entered the league. Now 32 years old, the former Pro Bowler has lost a step, but could still serve as a stop-gap deep-threat until Pittsburgh finds a long-term solution.

Signing Hilton won’t prevent the Steelers from targeting a wide receiver as early as day two of the 2022 NFL Draft, but it would give them some depth and security at the position. Hilton has been sitting on the market and should come pretty cheap at this point in his career.
