Steelers Freiermuth

Even before the offensive additions to this team, I was firmly in the camp that Pat Freiermuth was in for a big second season. He exceeded expectations as a rookie, as he quickly became a security blanket and red zone threat for this offense. Based on tight-end developments from the first to second seasons seemed to dictate that Freiermuth was in for a good 2022.

Now you get to factor in a Matt Canada-led offense that will likely focus on shorter and safer routes and suddenly Freiermuth is an even more attractive option. He established himself as just that last season, and now he can build off that in his second season. Even if his targets remain on the shorter side of things, he should still see a surplus of targets in the Steelers offense.

With this new offense focused on conservative passing and a grinding running game, Freiermuth should be a huge benefactor. He should see a regular supply of targets and he has proven to already make the most of them. He should be a favorite target of Trubisky and a capable scorer in the red zone. Watch out for a huge second season from Freiermuth.
