The Steelers made a lot of smart moves in free agency and it’ll pay off during draft time

The Pittsburgh Steelers made a lot of smart signings in free agency. Thanks to the amount of attention paid to the offensive line in free agency Pittsburgh is in a pretty decent spot heading into the draft. With that being said here is my 7 round mock draft.

The Steelers seem locked in on quarterbacks.

The Steelers have had meetings with all of the top quarterback prospects of the draft. With that being said, when I did my mock draft on various simulators I was consistently left scratching my head.

Matt Corrall and Desmond Ridder were the two best options at the 20th pick and depending on the simulator one or the other would be available. I believe Corral is going to be drafted before Pittsburgh has the chance so I am mocking Desmond Ridder to the Steelers with their first pick.

It takes a very talented quarterback to lead a non-power-5 school to the college football playoffs. While one can argue Cincinnati had the perfect combination of above-average talent for their conference mixed with an easier schedule than some other big-name schools, Ridder still led them within two wins of being national champions.

His accuracy and power when throwing the football can be suspect at times however, his ability to read defenses is truly head and shoulders above the other QB prospects of this class. He is a high-floor decent upside prospect that can round out the quarterback room.
