3. S Kyle Hamilton, Notre Dame

Kyle Hamilton is a player we aren’t even discussing right now had he run just a little bit faster at the 2022 NFL Combine. As it stands, however, teams could be worried about his roughly 4.6 speed at the safety position.

While this is a legitimate concern for most safety prospects, it shouldn’t be for a player of Hamilton’s caliber. During the 2021 season, Hamilton was talked about as being in contention for the top overall pick in the 2022 NFL Draft. Though the safety position has lost some of its value in today’s quick-passing league, it wasn’t hard to see why talent evaluators thought this.

Though Hamilton may not have great top-end speed. He still tested as an explosive athlete — recording a 38” vertical and a 10’11” broad jump. What’s really intriguing, however, is his elite size and length. Hamilton measured in at 6’4 1/8” and 220 pounds with nearly an 80” wingspan.

His fantastic instincts and quick burst help him to be in the right position all the time and he has the ball skills to make quarterbacks pay. Hamilton would be a sight to see next to Minkah Fitzpatrick in the backend of Pittsburgh’s secondary. He’s the third-best player the team has shown interest in prior to the NFL Draft, in my opinion.
