Kenny Pickett, QB, Pitt

Chances of being drafted by the Steelers: 16.86%

It is a narrow margin between Pickett and Ridder. While Pittsburgh did trade up in five mock drafts for Ridder, they only did that in 2 mock drafts for Pickett.

The results are slightly peculiar, keeping in mind the supposed ESPN report on April 22 stated that if the Steelers consider a quarterback it’s only Kenny Pickett. The article is odd because Tomlin and Colbert have not tried to hide their interest in Willis, making one wonder if the report is more of a smokescreen to hide their real intent. Thus it’s reminiscent of the earlier ESPN report that the Steelers had trade compensation lined up for Aaron Rodgers; we all learned later that was not true. The same is possible here.

Look at the Steelers competition. The Pickett goes 30.57% of the time in mock drafts’ number six spot. If you combine selections 1-19, Pickett gets drafted 63% of the time before pick 20. Hence, if the Steelers want Pickett, they may have to trade up.

Since he’s from Pitt, Pickett is already a fan favorite. Of all the quarterbacks, most feel he is the most capable of starting immediately for a team if needed. Though historically, his hand size indicates he may be a bust.
