Steelers targets if they trade up to the 7th pick

There would be two perfectly suited players the Steelers could take in this position, and either one could vastly improve the team.

Jermaine Johnson, EDGE Florida St.

He may not be a Travon Walker or a Kayvon Thibodeaux; nonetheless, adding Johnson to a team that already T.J. Watt sends a message to the other quarterbacks in the AFC North. They are stating that hunting season on quarterbacks is open, and the Steelers have come loaded for bear.

When your opposition has Joe Burrow, Lamar Jackson, and Deshaun Watson, you do not want to make things easy. In this case, the quarterbacks will be running for their lives. In much the same way Dan Pastorini, Ken Anderson, or Brian Sipe had to do.

Derek Stingley, CB LSU

If you choose to pass on the Sauce, there is always Derek Stingley Jr. If you go by mock drafts, you would think the Vikings already signed him months ago. Taking Stingley at seven would ruin the Vikings’ draft party, and the Steelers add someone that could help their defensive secondary in nearly every way Gardner could.

Also, making your secondary better is not something appealing to quarterbacks that gives more time for their pass blocking to break down, and the next thing they know, T.J Watt has blindsided them. He could improve the secondary and the team in a huge hurry.
