Steelers mock draft round 3: CB Coby Bryant

I wrestled with my third-round selection for the Steelers. I think there are a few strong candidates they could explore. I think Pittsburgh really likes Maryland safety Nick Cross as a potential prospect to replace Terrell Edmunds down the line. I can also see them going with a dynamic nickel cornerback in Marcus Jones. Ultimately, I settled with Cincinnati CB, Coby Bryant.

There is certainly enough evidence to believe that Bryant could be the pick in the third round if he’s still on the board. Pittsburgh’s brass was at his Pro Day, and they had a dinner meeting with him as well.

It’s not hard to see what the Steelers like about Byrant, though he doesn’t necessarily wow from a size or athleticism standpoint, he’s remarkably refined and very physical. Bryant was also very productive — compiling 170 tackles, 35 pass defenses, and 9 interceptions during his time at Cincinnati.

Pittsburgh is going to love that Bryant was a key contributor on one of the nation’s best defenses. With no cornerback on their roster signed beyond the 2023 season, Bryant could start as the team’s fourth cornerback in sub-packages before working his way into more of a full-time role down the line.
