Steelers final mock draft: Pittsburgh holds true to their interests

Steelers mock draft round 7(via Jets): DT Neil Farrell Jr.
A decade or two ago, a player like Neil Farrell would have held a lot more value. At 6’4” and 340 pounds, Farrell is strictly a run-stuffing nose tackle and situational player who doesn’t offer any value as a pass rusher.
In recent years, the Steelers have gone away from this type of player. But after finishing dead last in run defense in 2021, I can see them taking a space-eater like Farrell if they don’t address the defensive line earlier in the NFL Draft. Farrell would stand a great shot at making the roster thanks to his ability to stop the run.
Steelers mock draft round 7: LB Josh Ross
Josh Ross had a productive season for the Michigan Wolverines in 2021. However, there are a few factors that will cause him to slide until this point in the draft. Ross weighed in at just 227 pounds at the NFL Combine and didn’t test well at all (4.79 40-yard dash).
Ross won’t be fighting for a starting role anytime soon. Rather this would strictly be a special teams addition late in the draft for the Steelers. Still, Pittsburgh used a 30-visit on Ross, so there is some interest here to add him late in the NFL Draft.
The Steelers will soon be on the clock. During the pre-draft process, they’ve expressed interest in most of these players. It will be interesting to see if they decide to pull the trigger on any of them in the 2022 NFL Draft.
