Steelers overall 2022 draft grade: B+

This was a very interesting draft for the Pittsburgh Steelers. Admittedly, I wasn’t crazy about landing Kenny Pickett in the first round, as I am just unsure about how much upside he brings to the table in an absolutely stacked AFC right now.

In addition, I wasn’t a big fan of Pittsburgh’s late day-three picks, and I’m not sure if any of them end up making a difference on this team ever. However, excellent value in the second-through-fourth rounds really salvaged my overall grade for this class.

I absolutely loved the stretch of George Pickens, DeMarvin Leal, and Calvin Austin III. Taking two electrifying play-makers also makes Pickett a bit more attractive, as he has some excellent big-play weapons to work with. Pickett’s ability to extend the play and throw on the move should be a great tool paired with so many young weapons.

Overall, I am quite pleased with the results of the 2022 NFL Draft for the Pittsburgh Steelers. The success of this group hinges on QB Kenny Pickett, but if he proves to be a quality starter, this could be one of the best draft classes the Steelers have had in years.
