They say football is a 60-minute game. You need to give it your all playing all four quarters. The Steelers with Big Ben took many games to the last second.

However, despite all of Big Ben’s 4th quarter comebacks and game-winning drives,  there have been some odd quirks in Steelers history over the decades in which, and this is said somewhat sarcastically, in which they have not “played” all four quarters.

Quirks in which they won games by only scoring all of their points in just one-quarter of the game. Granted, it’s something that does not frequently occur; however, they have done it many times, surprisingly. For instance, they scored all of their points in the second quarter while there were no other points in any other quarter.

Games the Steelers won scoring all their points in the 1st Quarter

When it comes to Steelers victories, they have only scored all of their points in the first quarter; that has happened only on time and not on a Sunday. Their sole such victory scoring all of their points in the 1st quarter, happened 20 seasons ago, 12/23/2002, against Tampa Bay on a Monday night matchup.

The Steelers jumped out to a 17-0 lead in the first quarter thanks to an 11-yard touchdown reception from Tommy Maddox to Antwaan Randle El. The Steelers struck again when Chad Scott returned an interception back 30 yards scoring a touchdown, putting them up 14-0. Both touchdowns occurred within a 50-second time frame. Then with four 4:24 remaining in the first quarter Jeff Reed put them up 17-0 with a field goal.

They did not score again, and there was no other score period until Keshawn Johnson caught a touchdown pass with 1:14 remaining in the game, narrowing the score to 17-7.
